At this special service, candidates are blessed by the Bishop who prays for the gift of God’s Holy Spirit to sustain, support, guide, and protect them.

For those who were baptised as children, this is a chance to reaffirm the baptism promises for themselves. For those baptised as adults, it normally follows immediately after the baptism. In all cases, there is more information about confirmation here.

Confirmation services are held at different times of the year in local churches or Canterbury Cathedral. There is usually a preparation course of several sessions at which we explore questions around God, the Bible, the Church, and Christian living.
