FAITH

The church is people who are trying to grow ‘in knowledge and love of God, and of his Son, Jesus Christ’, as one of the Church of England’s prayers puts it: people who want to learn more of God, themselves, and the world, and seek to live their lives in accordance with God’s purposes. It’s not full of people with all the answers, or people who think they’re perfect – in fact, most Christians are people who’ve got lots of questions and know that they are far from perfection! But if we’re Christians it’s because we believe that God has done something unique in Jesus Christ which, in the power of his Holy Spirit, offers deeper, fuller life – and that this God loves the world and encourages us into a growing relationship with him and with each other.

We explore what this faith is and might mean in a variety of ways, not least through sharing prayer and worship on a regular basis and through reading the Bible. As well as the Bible, the creeds are classic statements of Christian belief. We also learn through our conversations with each other. There are groups which meet to think through some of the questions of faith and life which we face, and how we live out our faith by sharing it with others in words and actions.

For those who would like to make a distinct step in their journey of faith, baptism and confirmation are two possible ways to do this.

If you would like to think more about what faith means, please come along and share in one of our services, or keep an eye on this page where details of our groups will appear!
